What is a DESADV EDI message?
DESADV stands for DESpatch ADVice and is the digital version of the packing slip. DESADV is also known as an ASN, Advanced Shipping Notice.
The electronic packing slip level 4 contains details about your shipments including your pallets and the corresponding SSCCs. The SSCC is the worldwide unique identifier of the pallet and is part of the GS1 logistics label (SSCC label) that you attach to the pallets.
The electronic packing slip level 1 does not contain details about the shipment.
What is an SSCC?
The SSCC or Serial Shipping Container Code is a GS1 code that is used to uniquely identify shipping units (such as pallets). You can uniquely identify each unit worldwide with this code. This way you can track and trace the goods not just within your company, but throughout the entire logistics chain. Traceability is thus guaranteed.
